Martha Churchill Bohn
“Marty”, a resident of the Miller Beach section of Gary, IN, loves the beauty of the local environment. In all seasons of the year, one sees Marty with her camera hiking in the Indiana dunes. She is known for innovative interplay of color and light with wildlife and landscape. She has exhibited her photography locally and nationally in Lubbock TX, Chicago, IL, Evanston IL, Moline, GE and Santa Fe, NM. and has received numerous awards for her photos. She is self-taught, having begun photography at the age of 10. She is a founding member of the Miller Beach Arts and Creative District. Marty is Professor Emerita of Northwestern University. Before retiring, she was Director of the Neurobiology Program at Lurie Children’s Memorial Research Center and managed a research program focused on developing new gene therapies for Parkinson’s disease. She now spends most of her time on photography, gardening and traveling. She has enjoyed photography in over 80 countries and all 7 continents.
